CALEB ADOLPHUS AYIKAI ANNAN
Born on 24 March 1948, CALEB ADOLPHUS AYIKAI ANNAN attended Derby Avenue Roman Catholic Primary, Aayalolo, Accra (1954 -1956); Nsawam Road Primary, Adabraka, Accra (1957 -1959); Kinbu Government Middle School, Tudu, Accra; Accra Academy (1960 – 1967); and the Institute of Professional Studies now University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) (1971 – 1974) and obtained ACCA (Intermediate) in 1975.
He joined the Audit Service of Ghana as an Auditor in 1975 and retired as Assistant Auditor-General in 2008.
During that time he attended several in-service training courses with certificates in Ghana and abroad on Financial Auditing, Performance Auditing, Management, and Leadership Skills, IT Audit Skills, Mentorship, Coaching, and Training of Trainers Skills.
Due to his acumen between 1983 and 1999, he was on United Nations (UN) external audit teams as a team member or team leader to audit UN Headquarters Procurement in New York, USA twice.
Some of the Projects he embarked on during his service were Projects of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) – a) Bread Manufacturing Project in Maputo Mozambique; and b) the Project for the Production of Plant Derived Pharmaceuticals in Dar-el-Salaam, Tanzania in 1985; UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Pakistan; UNICEF Procurement and Assembly Centre (UNIPAC) in Copenhagen, Denmark; UNICEF Headquarters in New York, USA; UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Amman, Jordan three times in 1992, 1993 and 1996; Headquarters of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Amman, Jordan and in Gaza City, Gaza in 1998; and (UNRWA) Field Office in Damascus, Syria in 1999.
In 2002 he was appointed by the English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions of Africa (AFROSAI-E) based in Pretoria, South Africa to facilitate the training of middle management auditors of Supreme Audit Institutions in Namibia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Malawi, and South Africa, in modern Financial Auditing, and Management & Leadership Skills.
In a similar vein, he had an appointment in 2004 as a member of the AFROSAI-E Technical Committee which met once every year in Pretoria, South Africa, to assist with developing training materials.
He has attended International Conferences, Seminars and Missions Attended Together with the Auditor-General of Ghana like A study tour of the UK National Audit Office in London in 2002, AFROSAI-E meetings and workshops in South Africa, Tanzania, Angola, Botswana, and Zambia; 18th and 19th Congresses of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions of the world (INCOSAI) in Budapest, Hungary (2003) and Mexico City, Mexico (2007),10th Assembly of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire,19th and the 20th Commonwealth Auditors-General Conferences in Wellington, New Zealand (2005) and in the island of Bermuda (2008) respectively, Seminar at the World Bank Headquarters, Washington D.C., USA (2007); on “Transformation for the 21st Century: Maximizing the Impact of Supreme Audit Institutions”.
Mr. Caleb Annan was also a Financial Audit Counterpart Staff and Co-Trainer with Financial Audit consultants from the UK and Swedish National Audit Offices which trained the staff of the Audit Service in modern financial auditing methodologies in an EU-funded project (2001 to 2006)
Since 2010, he has been appointed either as a member or chairman of statutory Audit Committees (ACs) of the Ghana Education Service, Controller, and Accountant-general’s Dept., Ministry of Energy Tema Municipal Assembly, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ministry of Education, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Ghana Health Service (GHS); National Theatre of Ghana, Internal Audit Agency, and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).
Mr. Annan Loves Gardening and watching football and wrestling as his hobbies.
He is a married man with children.
